"Brought in my grandfather's Seiko — a 1970s automatic that had not run for years. Krit explained what was needed before starting anything, and the quote stayed the same throughout. Collected it three weeks later with a full set of photographs and a written account of everything done. The watch runs beautifully now."

British expat, Chiang Mai

"I had a dress watch with a badly scratched crystal and a bracelet that had developed a lot of play in the links. The case care service sorted both. They reviewed it with me first and suggested leaving the case brushed rather than polished, which was the right call. Took about six days."

"Simple quartz battery job and a check on the gasket before I took the watch scuba diving. They were clear about what they could and could not confirm without a pressure test. The notes were useful — I knew exactly where I stood."

"I was passing through and left a watch I had been uncertain about for years — an old Swiss movement that ran intermittently. Supachai explained that full restoration was an option but was honest that a quartz conversion would not suit the piece. Eventually a service revealed a worn mainspring. Fixed properly. I am glad I asked."

"I wanted the bracelet tightened and the mineral crystal replaced on a watch I wear every day. The work was done quickly and the price was as quoted. The only thing I would note is that the polishing brought out more shine than I expected — though they had asked and I said yes, so that is on me."

"Three quartz watches in for a battery service. Straightforward job, done in three days. The condition notes for each one were a nice touch — two were fine, one had a gasket that needed watching. Good to know."

Case studies

Three pieces, three outcomes

A more detailed look at particular watches and the work that was done on them.

Case Study 01

A 1960s Swiss pocket watch converted for wrist wearing

The situation

The owner's father had carried this watch for decades before it stopped. It had not run for about twelve years. The dial showed some discolouration but no cracking. The owner wanted it to run again and, if possible, to be able to wear it.

What was done

Full mechanical service — movement stripped, cleaned and oiled with period-appropriate lubricants. A worn escape wheel pivot was replaced. A new leather strap holder was fabricated to allow comfortable wrist wearing. Dial left as found; cleaning would have removed the aged quality the owner valued.

Outcome

Watch running within factory tolerance after service. Owner received sixteen photographs covering disassembly through to final regulation. Duration: three weeks. Owner's comment: "It felt strange handing something like this over. The photographs made it easy to trust."

Case Study 02

Daily-wear steel sports watch with deep bracelet wear

The situation

Five years of daily wear had left the steel bracelet loose and scratched. The acrylic crystal was badly scuffed. The owner used the watch for work and sport — they needed it to look presentable but were not concerned about a showroom finish.

What was done

Bracelet link adjustment and clasp tightening. Crystal replaced with mineral glass (discussed and agreed as more durable for this owner's use). Light brushing on bracelet sides, polished centre links retained. Case treated conservatively — some marks remained by mutual agreement.

Outcome

Returned in five working days. New crystal transformed the appearance significantly. Owner's note: "The bracelet feels completely different to wear. I had been tolerating it for a year. Should have come in sooner."

Case Study 03

Quartz watch returned from storage — owner uncertain of condition

The situation

The watch had been in a box for four years. Old battery still inside. The owner was unsure whether it was worth servicing or whether internal corrosion had done lasting damage.

What was done

Initial review on drop-off confirmed minor contact oxidation but no structural damage. Battery replaced, contacts cleaned, gasket inspected. Watch regulated and timed. Condition summary noted the gasket as due for replacement within the next year if water exposure is expected.

Outcome

Completed in two working days. Owner's comment: "I honestly expected to be told it was beyond saving. The written notes were clear — I know exactly what state it is in now and what to keep an eye on."
